Section break ---- C*News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- E*EZ NEWS JUNE 27, 2019 ---- E*Tai-Ex Opened The Tai-Ex opened up 21-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,674 on turnover of 1.6-billion N-T. The market continued to fall yesterday and closed under 10,700 points. Investors lost hope that the US Fed would cut interest rates. Turnover was also low, because many investors were waiting for the results (結果、成果) of talks about global trade from this week's G-20 summit. ---- E*Compromise Expected in EVA Air Strike The Taoyuan Flight Attendants Union may be willing to compromise (妥協) on some of its demands. EVA Air flight attendants are on the eight day of a strike. They are negotiating with the airline for eight major demands. Union deputy secretary Zhou Sheng-kai says EVA Air members are talking about revising their demands. They say the new demands (要求) will be announced later today. The union is expected to compromise on raising overseas daily allowance (津貼), adding a labor representative to the company's board, and insisting non-union employees not receive benefits negotiated with the union. ---- E*100 Patients Evacuated from Burning Miaoli Hospital Officials say over 100 patients and staff were evacuated (疏散) from a hospital in Miaoli after an overnight fire. The Miaoli County Fire Department says the fire at Zi-You Hospital in Zhu-nan Township started in the basement room, where medical records are kept. The blaze was quickly put out, but thick smoke spread through the building. Firefighters quickly evacuated patients and staff. No one was hurt or injured. And the cause (原因) of the fire is still under investigation. ---- E*Madagascar Stadium Stampede Causes Deaths A stampede at a concert in Madagascar's capital left at least 15 people dead. The singer was about to appear at the concert, when crowds started pushing and trampling (踩) people. Some 80 people were injured. Medical officials say the death toll is likely to rise because many of the wounded are in critical condition. Madagascar is celebrating the 59th anniversary of its independence. ---- E*UK PM Candidates Disagree on Brexit The two men who want to be the next UK Prime Minister disagree (不同意) about Brexit. Olly Barratt has more < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- E*Brazil Loosens Gun Laws President Jair Bolsonaro put out several new decrees about Brazil's strict gun laws. The decrees loosen (鬆開) the country's strict gun laws. Bolsonaro has promised during his presidential campaign to make it easier for "good citizens" to get guns, as a way to deal with crime.
