Investors ended 17 sessions of net selling for the Taiex. The benchmark weighted index rose 1.11 percent, with the bellwether electronics sector rising again. But overall for May, trade tensions (緊張、糾紛) between Washington and Beijing made foreign investors sell $144.9-billion NT worth of shares overall. ---- E*Taiwan Joins Global Celebration of National Animal Rights Day Over 200 animal rights supporters rallied (示威運動) in Taipei to mark National Animal Rights Day. Taipei was one of 35 cities around the world to host the event. Organizers say this year they are calling for adopting (領養) instead of buying pets, boycotting live animal performances, stopping the capture of animals to perform, and promoting a vegan (素食主義者) lifestyle. It is the second year National Animal Rights Day has been celebrated here in Taiwan. ---- E*US "Deadly Serious" Abt Mexico Tariffs The White House says President Donald Trump is serious about raising tariffs (關稅) on Mexican imports. AP correspondent Mike Hempen reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- E*Albania Protestors Demand Elections Thousands of Albanians protested in the streets Sunday, calling for new elections. Flares, smokebombs and firebombs were thrown at government buildings. Police eventually (最後、終於) used water cannons and tear gas when a small group tried to get closer to the building. At least seven police officers and a demonstrator were injured. The Democratic Party-led opposition supporters were gathered at a main government building. They are accusing(指責) Socialist Party Prime Minister Edi Rama of corruption and links to organized crime. They want Rama to resign and an interim Cabinet to lead the country to an early parliamentary election. ---- E*Police Probe as Neymar Uses Social Media Against Rape Claim Soccer star Neymar is using social media to a woman's accusations that he raped her. Police reports say the Brazilian woman told officers the attack happened May 15-that the Sofitel Paris Arc De Triomphe hotel. The Paris Saint-German player posted photos of friendly messages from the accuser after the alleged (所謂的) attack. Neymar is in Brazil to join the national team in training for the Copa America tournament (比賽) that starts June 14th. Police from the Rio de Janeiro cyber-crimes unit visited the training ground.
