She was appointed chairperson of the Taiwan Asset Management Corporation less than 24 hours before she gave up the job. Some say she was appointed because she is President Tsai Ing-wen's cousin. Lin said she had personal reasons for resigning. ---- E*DPP Lawmaker Sentenced to Six Months for Leaking Information The Supreme Court will not change a lower court ruling (裁決), sentencing DPP lawmaker Chen Ming-wen to six months in prison. He was found guilty of leaking information about a government construction project back in 2007. The Supreme Court ruling is final, but Chen can pay a fine of 180,000 N-T to avoid prison time. ---- E*US Senate Ends Yemen Conflict Support The US Senate has passed a resolution to end US military support for Saudi Arabia in the conflict (衝突) in Yemen. UK Prime Minister Theresa May says she plans to ask EU leaders to adjust (調整) the deal to convince UK lawmakers to give their approval. The EU leaders say they also will work hard to strike a new trade deal with the UK. ---- E*Netherlands Arrest Man with Knife at Airport Police in the Netherlands have arrested a man with a knife at an Amsterdam airport. Officials say the man threatened (威脅) people passing by before officers arrested him. No one was hurt.
