This move folows the results of the November 24th referendum that supports continuing the use of nuclear power. Officials say the change will now be sent ot the Legislative Yuan for review. The government says its goal is still to make Taiwan nuclear power-free, even though the 2025 deadline has been cancelled. ---- E*Uruguay Suspends Visa Free Entry for ROC Passports Uruguay has stopped allowing people with ROC passports to enter the country without a visa (簽證). This comes less than two months after Uruguay included Taiwan in its visa-waiver program. Foreign ministry officials say Uruguay is still working on its online e-visa application system. Now, Taiwan travelers to Uruguay will have to apply for a visa at the Uruguayan embassy in Japan. ---- E*China Demands Release of Huawei CFO China is demanding the release of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou. Edwin Oviedo is accused of helping pay for several judges to go to the World Cup in Russia. Officials say Ovideo will be held for 15 days while the investigation continues. Oviedo has denied all accusations (指控). ---- E*Pope to Visit UAE in Feb Pope Francis plans to visit the United Arab Emirates in February. He will travel to Abu Dhabi Feb. 3rd to 5th, to push for Christian-Muslim dialogue and peace.
