Section break ---- C*News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- E*EZ NEWS DECEMBER 5, 2018 ---- E*Cabinet Rejecting Calls to Reinstate Holidays The Cabinet says it cannot bring back the seven public holidays that were cancelled in 2016. Labor groups want the government to review (檢閱) its public holiday policy. They say the current policy ignores workers rights, and President Tsai Ing-wen had promised to keep the holidays when she was running for office. But the Cabinet says the holidays were cancelled because of changes to the Labor Standards Act. They say now both public and private-sector workers have the same number of days off. ---- E*Debris from missing Mirage-2000 Found Officials say they've found pieces of the crashed Mirage 2000 fighter jet that went missing last November. The Air Force says the parts were found on the ocean floor (海底) about 1.3-km from the jet's last known location. The Mirage 2000 was from the Hsinchu-based 499-th Tactical Fighter Wing. It was being flown by Captain Ho Zu-yu on a nighttime training exercise, about 60 nautical miles north of Peng-Jia Islet. The flight data recorder from the jet has not been found. ---- E*US Republican Committee Claims Hack The National Republican Congressional Committee says it was hacked during this year's midterm election campaign. Correspondent Rachel Silverman has more. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- E*Ukraine Claims Russian Cyber Attacks Ukraine officials say they stopped a major cyberattack. They say Russia was responsible for the attack. Security services say the hackers used malicious (懷惡意的、有病毒的) accounting documents to try to get into the information technology system of the country's court system. They did not give further details. Russian officials have not responded to the claim. ---- E*Astronaut Urges Climate Action A commander of the International Space Station says he has seen how climate change has changed the Earth. German geophysicist and astronaut Alexander Gerst said in a video to officials at the UN climate conference, that he was surprised by how brown and dried out Europe looked this summer. The EU was struck by heat waves and little rain over those months.
