Section break ---- C*News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- E*EZ NEWS NOVEMBER 26, 2018 ---- E*CEC Respects Ting's Call to Nullify Taipei Result Election officials say they respect a candidate's call about Saturday's elections. KMT Taipei mayoral candidate Ding Shou-chong wants to invalidate the results, after losing to Mayor Ko Wen-je by a very thin margin (幅度). The Central Election Commission says it understands Ding's decision, and will cooperate with any court ruling on the issue. Ding filed an appeal with the Taipei District Court early Sunday to seal the ballot boxes used in the election. Results show that he lost to Ko by 3,254 votes. The results were the narrowest margin in the history of Taipei's mayoral elections. ---- E*Navy Has No Plans to Hold Dill Near Taiping Island And .... The Navy says it has no plans to hold an exercise in waters near Taiping Island in the South China Sea later this week. A news report had claimed the drill would happen this Friday and Saturday. This comes after the Coast Guard Administration held a three-day live fire drill near Taiping Island last week. Vietnam protested the routine (例行) exercise. ---- E*Mexico to Deport Border-rushing Migrants Mexican officials say they will deport migrants who illegally try to cross into the US. About 500 migrants in Tijuana marched toward the US border to call for US immigration to process (處理) asylum requests more quickly. US guards used tear gas at the group. Our US Correspondent Simon Marks reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- E*Protestors Mark End Violence Against Women Day Protestors in Europe marked the U-N International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on Sunday. Hundreds of women protested in Istanbul's Tunel Square, but police stopped them from marching and used tear gas against them. Activists also marched in more than 40 cities and towns in Spain. Tens of thousands marched in Madrid. In Brussels, European Parliament President Antonio Tajani put red makeup under his left eye as a symbol of domestic violence as he spoke to media.
