Section break ---- C*News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- E*EZ Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened down 34-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,794 on turnover of 1.7-billion N-T. ---- E*Tsai Marks Central American Independence Day The president is urging Taiwan's allies to join Taiwan in pursuing (追求、推行) democracy and freedom. President Tsai Ing-wen spoke at a banquet for Central American Independence Day in Taipei, saying that "China's continued diplomatic suppression of Taiwan will only strengthen our partnership with our Central American allies." Tsai says Taiwan's Central American allies have always been the strongest supporters. She says she will create official groups to look into investment and development in ally countries. The event was also attended by Ambassador's from Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala. ---- E*New Taipei Police Detain Landlord "Killer" Police have detained a man wanted for the murder of his landlord. The 35-year-old suspect stabbed his landlord Monday afternoon on Zhu-Lin Rd. before fleeing (逃跑) on a motorcycle. The landlord died of his injuries. The suspect was arrested late last night near the Zhong-Zheng Bridge, and police say he admitted to stabbing his landlord after an argument. ---- E*Stable Weather to Continue For Remainder of Week Experts say the weather will stay sunny until the weekend. The Central Weather Bureau says northeasterly winds will bring some rain to the north, center and south, and lower temperatures to around 30 degrees. The weather will be also cooler for the upcoming three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday next Monday. ---- E*North South Korea leaders meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has greeted South Korean President Moon Jae-in upon his arrival in Pyongyang. They will be meeting for the third time this year to improve ties and move towards denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula. Moon and Kim embraced (擁抱) at the Sunan International Airport as thousands of North Koreans cheered. This three-day trip makes Moon the third South Korean leader to visit Pyongyang for an inter-Korean summit. ---- E*US Trump on Kavanaugh nomination US President Donald Trump admits that the judge he chose for the Supreme Court might have to wait and see if he'll get support from the Senate. This comes after a woman accused nominee (被提名人) Brett Kavanaugh of attempted rape.
