Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Tai-Ex update The Tai-Ex opened down 56-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 11,037 on turnover of 1.7-billion N-T. ---- T*Asian Games update Taiwan has slipped back to seventh place in the Asian Games, with 14 gold, 17 silver and 24 bronze medals now. Yu Kai-wen and Zheng Zhu-ling won gold in the mixed doubles soft tennis final. Bronze medals were added by Yang Xian-ci in the women's under-78-kilogram kurash, Huang Ting-yin in the women's track cycling 3000-meter individual pursuit(個人追逐賽), and Lien Zhen-ling in women's Judo 57-kilogram event. Taiwan beat China 1-0 in the men's baseball super round Thursday evening. This means Taiwan goes into today's final super round game against Japan with four wins out of four games so far in Jakarta. ---- T*Recovery from flood The Cabinet has formed a special task force(專案小組) for recovery and reconstruction in flood-hit areas of central and southern Taiwan. The task force will be co-headed by National Development Council Minister Chen Mei-ling and Public Construction Commission Minister Wu Ze-cheng. Cabinet spokeswoman Kolas Yotaka says the task force will make sure that people in the worst-affected areas can go on with normal life as soon as possible. Premier William Lai is requesting the Central Weather Bureau to improve its early warning system for extreme weather events. Lai has also asked the Ministry of Economic Affairs to hold a national conference on flood management to look over ways the government handles flooding. ---- T*Trash shipping And .... The government says it is seeking to limit the amount of trash shipped to Taiwan from other countries. The Environmental Protection Administration says Taiwan already bans the import(進口) of certain types of waste. The administration also says there are plans to further tighten rules on the types of garbage that can be imported. The administration says it hopes the new measures will be put in place by October. ---- UK energy drink child ban The British government is looking at plans to ban the sale of energy drinks to under-18s in England. Experts have warned that the high levels of caffeine and sugar in those beverages could cause health dangers to children. From London, Paul Barber reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- El Salvador US abuse Salvadoran officials say three minors(未成年人) separated from their parents from El Salvador were sexually abused in shelters in Arizona after crossing the U.S. border. They say authorities had received reports of the abuse of the children from ages 12 to 17 by workers at unnamed shelters. The officials say lawyers will be available for the families, and it will be up to them to decide what to do next. The Trump administration has been facing heavy criticism over how slowly it is reuniting separated families.
