Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Tai-Ex update The Tai-Ex opened up 2-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,865 on turnover of 1.3-billion N-T. ---- T*Asian Games update Taiwan returned to eighth place in the Asian Games after winning two gold, three silver and one bronze medals on Thursday. Gold medals were taken by Guo Xing-chun in the women's weightlifting event and Lee Zhi-kai in the pommel horse(鞍馬) event. Silvers were won by Tang Chia-hong in the floor exercise event, Huang Yi-ting in women's sculls event, and Chen Wei-han in the women's single canoe event. The women's kabaddi team lost to India in the semi-final, but still won a bronze, as there was no third place match. ---- T*Taiwan Latina America Diplomatic Ties Ambassadors from Honduras and Nicaragua stated that their governments would continue maintaining diplomatic ties with Taiwan. Honduras' Ambassador to Taiwan says bilateral(雙向) ties remain stable and both sides will continue to work together. Nicaragua's ambassador to Taiwan says his country has always supported Taiwan in the international arena and will continue to be a firm ally. However, Guatemala's Embassy in Taiwan only released a statement saying it will consult with the Guatemala government before making a public comment on the issue next week. ---- T*Report: Taiwan global third best investment And .... Taiwan has become the world's third best investment destination in the latest U-S Business Environment Risk Intelligence report. Taiwan scored 68 points in its overall profit opportunities recommendation rating. The island is now ranked only behind Switzerland and Singapore. The report looks at investment and competitiveness of 50 global economies. ---- UN Venezuela The United Nations has called on nations in Latin America to ease entry for Venezuelans leaving the country. William Denselow reports from UN headquarters in New York. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- France knife attack A man killed his mother and sister and seriously injured another woman in a knife attack in a town near Paris. French police shot and killed the man soon afterward. The Islamic State group swiftly claimed responsibility for the attack. Officials noted the attacker suffered from severe psychiatric problems. But they also say authorities had already noticed that the man has expressed support for terrorism in the past. Police are not ruling out(排除) terrorism, and say that motive for the killings ``remains uncertain.'' ---- Russia ancient horse Russian scientists have found the body of an ancient foal perfectly preserved in the Siberian permafrost(永久凍土). The fossil was discovered in a large 100-meter deep depression in the region of Yakutia. The animal's skin, hair, hooves and tail are preserved. Scientists say the foal is estimated to be 30-thousand to 40-thousand years old. They believe it was about two months old when it died.
