(主權) Foreign Minister Joseph Wu yesterday announced Taiwan is cutting diplomatic relations with El Salvador. The president calls for national unity to "defend the status quo" of Taiwan, and warns Beijing that China has now crossed the line with all of Taiwan's major political parties. ---- T*Construction deaths in investigation The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation says unsafe working conditions caused 3 deaths at an airport construction site. The victims were employees of a company contracted to work on water pipes. Taoyuan firefighters say the three were killed in a mudslide at the site on Tuesday. Police are still investigating the exact cause of the accident. ---- T*Jia-Ming National Trail closed due to bears And .... The Forestry Bureau has closed the Jia-Ming Lake National Trail in Taitung County for 15 days from today. Bureau officials say the closure is due to an increase in the number of Formosan black bears being spotted foraging for food(覓食) in cabins. The Forestry Bureau will meet with black bear experts and representatives from hiking associations next Monday to discuss on how to stop the bears from appearing in camping areas. ---- US Trump aide convicted Ex-Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort has been convicted of eight financial crimes. AP Washington correspondent Sagar Meghani reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- UN Syria chemical weapons The United States, Britain and France are vowing to stop more chemical attacks in Syria. The countries made the statement on the fifth anniversary of a sarin nerve gas attack in 2012 that they blame on the Syrian government.
