Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened down 2-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,697 on turnover of 1.4-billion N-T. ---- T*Taiwan wins more medals at Asian Games Taiwan remains seventh in the Asian Games in Indonesia after winning two more gold, one silver and another bronze medal. Yang Kun-bi won gold in the men's trap shooting (不定向飛靶射擊) event. Su Bai-ya won gold in the women's taekwondo. Chiang Sheng-shan won silver in the men's mountain bike downhill event. Lu Shao-chuan won bronze in the men's 10-meter air rifle competition. ---- T*President Tsai on NASA visit And .... President Tsai Ing-Wen visited NASA this past weekend. The National Space Organization Deputy Director-General Yu Xian-zheng hopes cooperation in space exploration will become stronger between Taiwan and the U-S. A second satellite jointly (共同) developed by Taiwan and the U-S could be launched either later this year or early next year. ---- Pope Catholic child sex abuse Pope Francis has condemned the "atrocities" (暴行) of child sex abuse and cover-ups in an unprecedented (史無前例的) letter to all Catholics. US correspondent Kate Fisher reports < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Brazil Venezuela border Brazil officials say that they won't close its border with Venezuela despite tensions in border towns. Officials say closing the border would be illegal and wouldn't help ease the situation. An assault on a local storeowner in border town Pacaraima lead to attacks on Venezuelan immigrants on Saturday. Political and economic turmoil (動盪) has driven tens of thousands of Venezuelans across the border, straining the capacity of small towns in the area to cope. ---- Europe wind satellite delayed The launch of a European wind satelite has been delayed because of bad weather. Launch company Arianespace says the launch of the Aeolus has been postponed 24 hours "due to winds at altitude (高度)".
