Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 12-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 11,023 on turnover of 1.6-billion N-T. ---- T*Taiwan seeking talks on EAYG hosting rights The Sports Administration will try to talk with members of the East Asian Olympic Committee during next month's Asian Games. Officials say they will try to change the EAOC's decision to take away Taichung's right to host the East Asian Youth Games. The Asian Games will take place in Jakarta. ---- T*Near 2000 child sex abuse reports annually Experts say almost 2000 children report being sexually abused every year here in Taiwan. The Chang Gung Memorial Hospital children and teens under the age of 18 are forced or induced ( 促使、勸誘) through authority, violence or money, to take part in sexual acts. Pediatric General Medicine physician Hu Mei-hua says an average of 41 out of every 100,000 children have reported being sexually abused over the past decade. That's 1,935 cases a year, or an average of about 5.3 cases every day. And the doctor says as many as 75-per cent of the perpetrators in these cases were family members or people who the victims know. ---- T*Taiwan filmmaker wins VICFF award And .... Local movie maker, Shi Xiang-de has won the Red Maple Leaf Award for Best Director at the Vancouver International Chinese Film Festival for his short film "Will to Fly." Shi says the award gives encouragement to people with rare genetic disorders, and to their families. "Will to fly" is about the challenges (挑戰、困難) faced by the family of a five-year-old girl who has type II spinal muscular atrophy. ---- US NKorea war remains South Korean media says a US military plane is on its way to North Korea, to pick up the remains of US servicemen killed during the Korean War. US and South Korean officials would not comment on the report. If the transfer (轉讓) does happen, North Korea will probably give back around 55 sets of remains. About 7-thousand-700 U.S. soldiers are listed as missing from the Korean War. 5-thousand-300 of the remains are believed to still be in North Korea. ---- UN Syria IS attacks The United Nations has strongly condemned Wednesday's terrorist attacks in the Syrian city of Sweida. Our UN correspondent Liling Tan reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Philippines Muslim region Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has signed legislation to create a new Muslim autonomous (自主性、獨立存在的) region. Officials say the region will be called Bangsamoro. The deal had been under negotiation for two decades, through four presidents.
