Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 26-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,868 on turnover of 1.9-billion N-T. ---- T*CWB watching Tropical Storm Ampil Weather officials say Tropical Storm Ampil will have an affect on weather in Taiwan this weekend. The Central Weather Bureau says the storm formed (形成) in the ocean east of the Philippines last night. Right now, it is about 980-kilometers south-southeast of Eluanbi. It is moving in a north-northeasterly direction towards the Ryukyu Islands at 9-kilometers an hour. Ampil has a radius of 150-kilometers. It's maximum sustained wind speed is 64-kilometers an hour, with gusts of up to 90-kilometers an hour. Experts say the storm will probably stay on its path until tonight, then turn northwest towards the East China Sea. The CWB says it is too early to tell if Ampil will directly hit Taiwan. ---- T*Taiwan fishing boat UN violation And .... The Fisheries Agency says a Taiwan-registered fishing boat was detained for not meeting UN requirements. The International Labor Organization says the Kaohsiung-based "Fusheng 11" was detained in Cape Town, South Africa, in May, after the crew complained about working conditions. The ILO says inspectors found "poor accommodation, insufficient (不足) food, and poor safety and health conditions on board." The boat was released at the end of June. But Taiwan's Fisheries Agency would only say that the boat was tilting to one side and its rescue equipment did not meet with United Nations requirements. ---- US Trump Russia contradictory US President Donald Trump says Russia is no longer targeting the US. This goes against what US intelligence agencies are saying. Our US Correspondent Harry Horton reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Mexico party finances From Mexico.... The party of President-elect Andrew Manuel Lopez Obrador is being fined $10-million NT. The National Electoral Institute says most of the money from a trust fund for earthquake victims went to members of the Morena party. Officials could not be sure if the money then went to earthquake victims. But the institute says it is illegal for political parties to give out money. Morena says the fund was private and not run by the party. It plans to appeal (上訴). ---- Brazil measles outbreak Brazil's Health Ministry says at least 744 people have been infected with measles. The total includes 67 indigenous Venezuelans and Brazilians. Four people have died, including one indigenous child. Officials say most of the cases are in two Brazilian states on its border with Venezuela. There is also an outbreak (突發) of measles in Venezuela, where health services are not available.
