Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 31-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,769 on turnover of 2.6-billion N-T. ---- T*Edu minister hopes to settle NTU prez issue The Education Minister-desginate says his first task (任務) will be to try to settle the issue of a new president for National Taiwan University. Yeh Jun-rong says this issue has ahd a big impact on education and society. He says a resolution (決議) needs to be found as soon as possible. Yeh says he will use the best ideas from the education ministry, schools, government branches and society. Yeh got his bachelor's and master's degrees in law from the National Taiwan University and also worked as a professor of law there. ---- T*Gov measures to end workplace age discrimination The government plans to fine companies for discriminating against older job seekers. The Labor Ministry is trying to encourage older people to join rejoin the workforce. The amendment to the Employment Services Act would fine companies up to $1.5-million NT if they do not comply (執行). ---- T*588 athletes headed to Asian Games in Jakarta Taiwan will send 588 athletes to the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta next month. That will be the largest team the country has ever sent to the event. The Asian Games squad (隊) will compete in 36 of the 40 sports events in Jakarta. That includes electronic sports, which is part of the games for the first time this year, as a demonstration sport. ---- Trump migrants reunifications The Trump administration says it has finished returning young migrant children to their parents, but 46 of the children will not be returned. US correspondent Nick Harper reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- China industrial park blast China's state news agency says an explosion at a chemical factory has killed 19 people and hurt 12 others. The blast at Yibin Hengda Technology Company in Sichuan province started a fire yesterday evening. The fire was put out this morning, and officials say the injured are in stable (穩定) condition. ---- France weekend celebrations. Paris is preparing for a weekend of celebrations, with Bastille Day and a possible victory in the World Cup final. The government will send 12-thousand police officers and 3-thosuand rescue workers into the city and nearby areas for France's National Day on Saturday. Then Sunday, France will play against Croatia for the World Cup final match in Moscow. A military parade will be held on the Champs-Elysee on Bastille Day. If France wins the World Cup, people will also go there to celebrate.
