Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened down 55-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,730 on turnover of 2.4-billion N-T. ---- T*Air Pollution Control Act passes 3rd reading The Air Pollution Control Act has passed a third reading by lawmakers. The bill gives the Environmental Protection Administration more power to tackle (辦,處理) air pollution. The bill was passed after opposition lawmakers demanded that issues of air pollution be handled by the EPA, and not the Ministry of Economic Affairs. ---- T*Formosan macaques to be unlisted as protected species Formosan Macaques will be taken off the list of protected species in Taiwan. The Council of Agriculture also took off seven other animals. These animals along with the macaques, are now classified as (歸類為) general wildlife. Seventeen species have been added to the protected species list. ---- T*AIT says US and Taiwan could be partners And .... American Institute in Taiwan Director Kin Moy says the United States and Taiwan could be partners in building a digital future for all. Moy says the U-S and Taiwan have been close partners on technological cooperation and have been working to bring their relationship into the digital age. Moy says efforts have focused on businesses and startups, but both sides are now expanding into new digital technologies and how they will transform (改造) societies. ---- US immigration camps US Defense Secretary Jim Mattis says the United States military will build camps to keep immigrants at two military bases. U.S. correspondent William Denselow reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Greece S&P rating upgraded Standard and Poor's ratings agency has upgraded (升級) Greece's credit rating from B to B+. The ratings agency says there is less risk in Greece, after the country made a deal with European creditors and the International Monetary fund. The deal gets Greece another debt relief package.
