I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 6-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,922 on turnover of 1.6-billion N-T. ---- T*Labor groups continue protests Labor groups are still protesting outside the Legislative Yuan. They want the DPP to cancel suggested changes to work week laws. They say the changes would let employers force employees to work fro 12 days in a row, with a break of just eight hours between shifts. D-P-P legislative caucus whip Ker Jien-ming says the bill could be passed by tomorrow at the earliest. But KMT and NPP lawmakers say they will delay passing the bill. They want the public to have more time to look over the changes. ---- T*Taiwan envoy denies cocaine ship was Taiwan-registered A Taiwan official says a cargo ship carrying cocaine that ran aground near the Philippines was not a Taiwan-registered ship. Gary Lin says the "Jin Ming 16" was registered in Togo in 2000. The freighter ran aground on January 2nd off the coast of Northern Samar. 24-kilograms of cocaine was found in waters near the ship on January 3-rd. Lin says the ship was sailing from China's Hainan Island when it ran aground. ---- T*Temps drop with cold front The Central Weather Bureau says temperatures fell to 8.8 degrees in the Danshui area this morning. That's the lowest temperature recorded in low areas in Taiwan so far this winter. Weather stations in Hsinchu recorded temperatures of 9.5-degrees, 9.4-degrees in New Taipei's Banciao District and 10.4-degrees in Taipei City. The cold front will likely stay in Taiwan until Thursday. ---- Koreas to meet South Korean media say North and South Korea have begun talks at their border. They are talking about how to cooperate in next month's Winter Olympics and how to improve. Yonhap news agency says the talks started this morning at the border village of Panmunjom. It's the first talks between the rivals in about two years. ---- US refugee admittance drops Only 5,000 refugees have been allowed to enter the US in the first months of the fiscal year under President Donald Trump.
