I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 8-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,856 on turnover of 2.2-billion N-T. ---- T*US urges Taipei Beijing dialogue over flight routes The U-S says Taipei and Beijing should talk about new flight routes. China started four new flight routes (路線) close to the middle line of the Taiwan Strait. The Mainland Affairs Council says it has protested the move. MAC head Katherine Chang says it is unacceptable, especially if China is going to use the routes as political pressure on Taiwan. Chang says Beijing should stop all flights on the routes, and let aviation officials from both sides talk. China says the new routes help lessen air traffic and increase safety. ---- T*VP Chen to attend Honduras prez inauguration Vice President Chen Chien-ren will go to the inauguration (就職典禮) of re-elected Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez later this month. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Andrew Lee says his office is now planning the vice president's visit to Central America. Lee says they will give more details abou the trip before Chen leaves for the January 27-th inauguration ceremony. President Tsai Ing-wen congratulated Hernandez on his re-election via a video conference call on December 27-th. ---- T*Strongest cold air mass to arrive Monday And .... The strongest cold air mass of the winter will hit Taiwan next Monday. The front will be at its strongest next Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures in the north and center will drop to between 10 and 11 degrees. Some low areas in the north and center will also fall below 10 degrees. Forecasters say snow will fall on Jade and He-Huan mountains. ---- US Trump offshore drilling The Trump administration wants to do more drilling offshore for oil and gas. Steve Mort reports from Florida. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Brazil Facebook false news Facebook is taking steps against false news reports ahead of October elections in Brazil. The company says it will offer a free online course for teens, young adults and educators on how to spot false reports and stop them from spreading. It will also create a Messenger bot that will give users information online.
