I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 21-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,664 on turnover of 1.2-billion N-T. ---- T*President on combatting low wages The president says her government is working to fight low wages. President Tsai Ing-wen says the government is encouraging companies to upgrade and reinvent themselves. Private businesses that do this will be rewarded with subsidies and other incentives (獎勵). Tsai says officials and think tanks are making plans to help local industries make the change and upgrade so they can increase their profits. ---- T*Taipei low on property market rankings A property market survey ranked Taiwan near the bottom for 2018. The "Emerging Trends in Real Estate Asia Pacific" survey from Pricewaterhouse Coopers says Taipei is in 22nd place. The city was also 22nd for investment outlook and 20th in development outlook (前景、展望) for property. It was the second year in a row that Taipei was low on the list. ---- T*Buses collide in Taipei And .... Ten people were hurt after two buses collided (碰撞) in downtown Taipei. Officials say seven women and three men were sent to the hospital with slight injuries. Police said both the drivers have passed alcohol tests. They are looking into the cause of teh accident. ---- NKorea warning to US North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has a warning for the United States. AP correspondent Matt Small reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Brazil prison riot A fight broke out between inmates at a prison in Brazil, leaving nine dead and 14 injured. The violence at the Colonia Agroindustrial prison started when inmates from one block went into other blocks where prisoners from rival gangs are held. Officials say the attackers set mattresses on fire and burned bodies. Firefighters were able to stop the fire and special forces regained control of the prison in about two hours. Local media said about 106 inmates escaped during the riot (暴動), and officials had recaptured 29. ---- Poland new year Poland's president asked the country to help change the constitution in 2018. Andrzej Duda said this in his New Year's speech. This year, Poland will celebrate 100 years of regained statehood.
