I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened up 31 points this morning from yesterday's close at 10,592 on turnover of $2.9 billion NT. ---- T*Tucheng fire suspects detained for questioning Police are questioning two suspects after a New Taipei restaurant fire last night. One person died and five were hurt in the blaze. Investigators say the fire may have been started because of debt. Police say security video shows two people carrying a red plastic container get out of a black car near the restaurant. Witnesses also say two people splashed something that smelled like flammable (易燃的) liquid onto the restaurant walls. Police detained the two suspects, including the owner of the car, in Taichung City. (NS) ---- T*China Airlines resumes London flights China Airlines has started flying directly to London again. The trips stopped in 2012, because the airline said it was not getting enough passengers. Now there will be four flights a week from Taoyuan International Airport to England's Gatwick Airport. The trip will take 13 to 14 hours. Taoyuan Mayor Chen Wen-tsan was at the ceremony for the first flight today. He says this change brings Taiwan and England closer. And Taiwanese M-L-B player Chen Wei-yin was on the first flight out this morning. The Miami Marlins pitcher says he's taking his wife to London for a 5-day vacation. (NS) ---- US Sec. of State to visit EU The White House confirms that U-S Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is making a trip to Brussels and Vienna. Reports have suggested that President Donald Trump is planning to replace (替換) Tillerson. Our U.S. correspondent Priscilla Huff has an update: < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Venezuela top officials arrested for corruption Two former Venezuelan officials have been arrested for corruption. Former Oil Minister Eulogio del Pino and ex-president of state oil company PDVSA Nestor Martinez were arrested just four days after they were fired by the president. They are accused of embezzling state funds, conspiracy (合謀) and money laundering among other charges. ---- UN Arab World Heritage sites in danger A United Nations agency says many World Heritage sites in the Arab region are in danger because of conflict. UNESCO director-general Audrey Azoulay says over 100 sites across Iraq have been damaged. She says all six World Heritage sites in Syria have been "severely affected", including Palmyra and Aleppo, one of the world's oldest cities. The U-N Security council adopted a resolution in March condemning the destruction of cultural heritage, and warning the Islamic State extremist group, al-Qaida and other groups that such attacks could be considered war crimes. ---- 10AM Easy EZ News Outro That's it for Easy EZ News today.
