I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened down 90-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,623 on turnover of 3.7-billion N-T. ---- T*Gov looks at phasing out fossil fuel vehicles The government is thinking about switching from fossil fueled vehicles to electric vehicles to cut down air pollution. Economics Minister Chen Rong-jin says the government is looking at following in the footsteps (跟隨著...的腳步) of France and the UK. Those countries have said they would ban sales of gasoline and diesel cars from the year 2040. Chen says the government will talk about business opportunities and how to prepare for such a change. The minister says the government hopes the move would be good for the environment, and also good for creating a whole new industry in Taiwan. ---- T*DPP nominates candidates for mayors and magistrates The DPP has chosen nine candidates to run for mayors and county magistrates in next year's local elections. Party officials say the president is urging candidates to build strong campaign teams. She says a good "political track record (政績) is the best campaign". The nine candidates will run for mayors or magistrates of Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Pingtung and Penghu. The date for the election hasn't been chosen yet, but the ballot will take place on either November 24-th or December 1-st. ---- T*CWB submarine seismic monitoring improved And .... The Central Weather Bureau says its system to monitor underwater seismic (地震) activity has been improved by 30-percent. The newly expanded system now has a 115-km detection range, with a depth of 2-thousand-732 meters. The system will now be better at finding the epicenter of an underwater earthquake, and do this one-to-five seconds faster. ---- UN considers NKorea measures The United Nations is discussing what to do about the latest North Korean missile test. AP correspondent Warren Levinson reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Argentina human rights In Argentina.... A former navy captain is sentenced to life in prison for human rights violations. Captain Alfredo Astiz was charged for kidnapping, torture, homicide, and stealing minors. He was an undercover (秘密) agent and delivered people to the military. 53 other people were also charged in the case. It was the largest trial of its kind in Argentina's history. ---- Bitcoin price surges The price of bitcoin jumped past $11-thousand U-S dollars, but fell again. The virtual currency went through $10-thousand yesterday, making it ten times more valuable than what it was worth at the beginning of the year.
