I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiwan to commission 12 anti-submarine aircraft next month Taiwan will hold a ceremony for 12 anti-submarine aircraft next month. Taiwan bought the military aircraft from the US to make its anti-submarine warfare capabilities (性能) stronger. The P-3C Orions, with torpedoes and depth bombs, are designed to sink fast, deep-diving nuclear submarines and high-performance surface ships. The new aircraft will replace 11 S-2T anti-submarine aircraft that had been used for more than 40 years. Taiwan bought the aircraft from the U-S for $1.9-billion US dollars in 2007. ---- T*Cruise ship carrying 4,000 tourists calls at Taichung Port Asia's largest cruise ship came to Taichung Port for the first time yesterday. 4000 passengers from Hong Kong and Macau arrived on the Ovation of the Seas. The Taichung City government held a welcome ceremony for them. Deputy Mayor Lin Ling-san says the visit is a results of 2 years effort by the city government. Lin says the city is inviting more cruise ships tourists to visit during the 2018 Taichung World Flora Exposition that will run from November next year to April 2019. The 167,800-ton cruise liner set out from Hong Kong Wednesday and also docked at Keelung Friday and Hualien Saturday. (PB) ---- Iran Iraq earthquake A magnitude 7.2 earthquake hit an area along the border between Iran and Iraq. At least 61 people and injuring 300 in Iran. Media reports say six deaths and 200 injuries were reported in Iraq. The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centered 31 kilometers outside the eastern Iraqi city of Halabja. At least 14 provinces had been affected, with electricity knocked out in two cities. ---- US Trump Tweets US intelligence officials are seriously questioning moves by the Trump administration over the president's 12 day trip to five Asian nations. Our U.S. correspondent Priscilla Huff reports: < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Romania Protest In Romania.... Thousands of people protested in 10 cities against changes to tax laws. Social welfare taxes were paid by both workers and their employers. The new laws would make workers pay the portion that employers use to pay. Romania's government made the changes last week.
