I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened down 29-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,713 on turnover of 2.1-billion N-T. ---- T*MAC calls on Beijing to improve relations The Mainland Affairs Council is calling on Beijing to improve relations with the island. Council Vice Minister Chiu Chui-cheng says working for better cross-strait ties is in line with (符合) making China-U-S ties stronger. China's President Xi Jin-ping has told U-S President Donald Trump that Taiwan was the "most important, most sensitive core issue in China-US relations and is the political basis for the China-US ties" Chui says Taiwan is willing to work with China to find a new way to move cross-strait ties in the right direction. ---- T*Taiwan US Australia women's empowerment fund Taiwan has signed an agreement with the U-S and Australia to set up a fund to empower women in Asia. Taiwan's special envoy to the APEC summit in Vietnam,James Soong signed the deal at a breakfast meeting with U-S under secretary of state for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon and Karen Lanyon, Australia's Consul-General. Taiwan and the U-S will each contribute 500,000 dollars, while Australia will provide 700,000 dollars to the fund. The money will used to establish the APEC Women and the Economy Sub-Fund. ---- T*Tropical Storm Haikui won't affect Taiwan And .... The Central Weather Bureau says Taiwan is not expected to be affected by Tropical Storm Haikui. Haikui is the 24th tropical storm of this year's Pacific typhoon season. Right now, the storm is about 900-kilometers south of Hengchun in Pingtung County. And it is moving at about 25-kilometers-an-hour in a west-northwesterly direction and will likely move into the South China Sea in the next few days, threatening (威脅到) Hainan Island and eastern Vietnam. ---- UK new official appointed British Prime Minister Theresa May has appointed a new Secretary for International Development, after the last secretary resigned because of unauthorized (沒有批准的) meetings with Israeli officials. Catherine Drew reports from London < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Israel air drill and... Israel is holding its largest-ever air drill. Around 1000 participants from eight countries, including the U-S, Germany, and France, are in Israel for the drill named "Blue Flag. Fighter jets, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles are going through simulations (模擬) of air battles and dealing with anti-aircraft systems.
