I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 23-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,320 on turnover of 1.4-billion N-T. ---- T*New Party seeks Premier sedition charges The pro-unification New Party wants the KMT's help to file charges of sedition against Premier William Lai. Lai told lawmakers earlier this week that he supports Taiwan independence. New Party chairman Yu Mu-ming says Lai's comment in his position as head of the Executive Yuan was "very mysterious". Yu says his party will ask the Control Yuan to investigate Lai for "splitting sovereignty of the Republic of China. Cabinet spokesperson Hsu Guo-yong says Yu and his party can file a complaint, but they will probably find it hard to prove that Taiwan, or the R-O-C is not already a sovereign (主權), independent country. ---- T*Japanese beef lands in Taiwan Officials say the first shipment of Japanese beef landed in Taiwan Thursday night. The meat had been banned from Taiwan since 2003, after the outbreak of mad cow disease in Japan. The Food and Drug Administration announced on Sept. 19-th that the ban would be lifted. There are rules on the type of Japanese beef that would be allowed into Taiwan. The meat must come from cows under 30 months of age and from healthy cows that are checked by an official veterinarian. ---- T*Torrential rain alerts for northern Taiwan areas And .... The Central Weather Bureau put out a torrential rain alert at 8AM this morning for New Taipei, Keelung and Yilan county. It also put out a heavy rain alert for Taipei city. Earlier this morning at 6AM, a heavy rain alert was issued for New Taipei and Keelung. The CWB says athe weather system bringing the rain is strong, and rainfall will probably be short but heavy. ---- Myanmar Rhohingya UN Myanmar's national security adviser says the problems in Rakhine state are "due to terrorism". The official told an open U-N Security Council meeting, that there is "no ethnic cleansing and no genocide (種族滅絕) in Myanmar". He asked the U-N not to get involved and make the situation worse. The official says diplomats and media will visit northern Rakhine on Monday. Earlier today, the United Nations reported that over 500-thousand Rohingya Muslims have now fled (逃離) from Myanmar to Bangladesh. ---- US immigration crackdown U-S officials have arrested hundreds of people for breaking immigration rules. US correspondent, Frances Read, reports from Los Angeles. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Vietnam Buffalo fighting Vietnam's water buffalo fighting festival took place Thursday, even though some people said the festival should end. The festival was halted three months ago, after a buffalo killed its owner on the field. Yesterday, about 20-thousand people watched the finals in Hai Phong.
