I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex First Taiwan news.... The Tai-Ex opened up 38-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,610 on turnover of 2.3-billion N-T. The market closed down Monday as investors pocketed early gains amid cautious sentiment (氣氛謹慎) over whether foreign institutional investors (外資) would continue to unload their holdings in local equities (出脫國內持股). ---- T*CWB on typhoon Talim The Central Weather Bureau will issue a sea warning for Typhoon Talim at 11:30 this morning as the storm continues to move towards the north of the island. A land warning is likely to be issued this evening. The storm is currently located some 1,100-kilometers east-southeast of E-Luan-Bi. And is and moving in a west-northwestly direction at 29-kilometers-an-hour packing sustained wind speeds of 118-kilometers-an-hour, with gusts (最大陣風) of up to 154-kilometers-an-hour. If Talim continues on its current projected path the eye of the storm will likely skirt the northern tip (從最北端掠過) of the island tomorrow afternoon. ---- T*Police probed into Gaoxiong accident Police in Gaoxiong are continuing their investigation into last night's deadly bus crash on the Sun-Yat-Sen Freeway - which left six people dead and 11 others injured. The accident occurred at around 11:50 last night in the city's Gang-Shan District and involved a vehicle operated by the Aloha Bus Company which was heading to Taipei. Police say an initial investigation shows the bus driver tried to avoid a vehicle that appeared in front of the bus before slamming into the freeway's outer concrete barrier (外側水泥護欄). ---- T*MAC on Li The Mainland Affairs Council is urging authorities in China to release Taiwanese human rights activist Lee Ming-zhe and to assure his safe return to Taiwan. The statement was released after the opening day of Lee's trial on charges of "subversion of state power" at the Intermediate People's Court in Yue-Yang City. Lee has been detained in China since March and pleaded guilty during a brief court appearance Monday before being returned back into custody (還押). The judge said sentencing on the case (此案的判決) will be issued at a later date, which has yet-to-be-decided. ---- Korea .. In international news .... The United Nations Security Council has adopted new sanctions on North Korea. The A-P Mike Gracia reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- UK Parliament's vote on Brexit British lawmakers have voted in favor of legislation to sever (切斷) political, financial and legal ties with the European Union at its second reading, allowing the bill to move to the next stage of the parliamentary process. The opposition Labour Party opposed the bill but would have needed to convince E-U supporters in the governing Conservatives to side with them to vote it down 在野的工黨反對這項法案,但是需要執政黨(保守黨)內支持英國留歐的人士跟他們同一陣線,投下反對票. After more than eight hours of debate on Monday, lawmakers voted by 326 to 290 in favor of the E-U withdrawal bill (結果脫歐法案二讀通過), which will now go on to face days of line-by-line scrutiny (逐條審閱). ---- Norway election Norway's tax-cutting Conservative Prime Minister Erna Solberg declared victory this morning after a parliamentary election. She narrowly defeating a Labour-led opposition with her promises of steady management of the oil-dependent economy. The win is historic for Solberg, whose supporters compare her firm management style to that of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, because no Conservative-led government has retained power (執政) in an election in Norway since 1985. ---- US memorial of 911 In news from the U-S .... Two giant towers of light have lit up the lower Manhattan skyline as a visual memorial to those who lost their lives on 9/11. The September 11 Memorial & Museum's "Tribute in Light" art installation (燈光致敬裝置藝術) switched on just after sundown Monday. The light beams reach up to four miles into the sky and are comprised of (由...構成) 88 searchlights positioned into two squares that represent the twin towers. The Memorial Plaza will be open to the public until midnight Monday to view the lights, which were first installed six months after the attack and are now a yearly tradition. ---- WEATHER AM .....
