I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex The Tai-Ex opened up 20-points this morning from Friday's close, at 10,630 on turnover of 3.2-billion N-T. The market staged a technical rebound (技術反彈) Friday to end above the 10,600-point mark. ---- T*CWB on tropical storm The Central Weather Bureau says it is likely to issue a sea warning for Tropical Storm Talim later tomorrow and a land warning early Wednesday, as the storm continues to move towards Taiwan. Talim is the 18th tropical storm of this year's Pacific typhoon season. The storm is currently located some 1-thousand 700 kilometers from E-Luan-Bi and moving in a west-northwesterly direction towards the Bashi Channel at speeds of between 27 and 30-kilometers-an-hour. If Talim continues on its current predicted path (持續照著預測路線走), the storm will likely begin to affect weather patterns across Taiwan from Wednesday and could make landfall in the Heng-Chun area early Thursday morning. ---- T*Li Ming-zhe's trial The wife of detained Taiwanese human rights advocate Lee Ming-zhe has arrived in the Chinese City of Yue-Yang ahead of his trial. Lee Jing-yu arrived in Chang-sha late yesterday before traveling to Yue-Yang, in Hunan province. Lee Ming-zhe has been detained in China since March and he is facing charges of "subversion of state power 顛覆國家." The trial will take place at the Intermediate People's Court in Yue-Yang City. The government here in Taipei has retained a lawyer (雇用了律師) for Lee Jing-yu - and speaking to reporters Fan Zhi-cheng said he was there to advise her on legal matters, but would not represent her husband in China. Lee Ming-zhe's mother is also in China to attend her son's court hearing. ---- T*Gaoxiong Light Rail Free travel on Gaoxiong light rail line will end in November. Travel on the light rail line has been free since it was inaugurated (開始) in October of 2015. However, Gaoxiong Mass Rapid Transit Corporation says with the extension of the line this year and a sharp growth in the number of passengers, a fare system (收費制度) will be put in place within the next two months. Ridership (搭乘人數) on the light rail line averages 13,000 passengers per day on work days, and nearly 20,000 on weekends and holidays. ---- Italy Floods Turning to world news... Torrential rain in Italy has triggered flooding that killed at least five people in the Tuscan port town of Leghorn. Italian state television said four of the victims were family members whose bodies were found in their flooded basement on Sunday. Some Italian media reports put the death toll at six in Leghorn. The city's Mayor said he could not immediately confirm the number, but added that casualties (死傷人數) could increase because several people were missing. In Rome, which until recently suffered through 3 and a half months of drought, the downpour made streets resemble fast-moving streams (讓街道看起來像湍急溪流) and several subway stations were closed. ---- Apple Leak iPhone details and other upcoming Apple device plans have been revealed (洩漏) via an apparent leak. Media sites were given access to a unreleased (未公布的) version of the iOS operating system. Also made available was details on two new iPhone 8 handsets, a code that refers to an iPhone X, and facial recognition tech (臉部辨識技術) that acts as both an ID system and a way for users to map expressions onto emojis (把使用者的表情變成表情符號). A tech writer said it was the biggest leak to hit the firm (這是該公司遭遇過最大的機密外洩), and a blogger who covers apple says more surprises were spoiled by this leak than any leak in Apple history. Apple is holding a launch event at its new headquarters this Tuesday. ---- Netherlands A Dutch engineer has created a new kind of rooftop garden that he says can store more water than existing green roofs (現在的綠能屋頂) and supply it to plants rooted in shallow beds of soil. Joris Voeten unveiled his design on top of a former naval hospital in Amsterdam on Friday. Voeten says it also requires less power by relying on an irrigation system (灌溉系統) that uses insulation material (絕緣材料) instead of pumps (抽水馬達). Roofs adapted so plants can grow on them produce a cooling effect (冷卻效果) on buildings and the air immediately above them.
