Officials say 341 R-O-C nationals in 19 tour groups are known in the Jiu-zhai-gou region. Photographs show damage to buildings, including a hotel, in Jiu-Zhai-gou - home to one of China's most famous nature reserves (自然保護區) and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Meanwhile Cabinet spokesman Xu Guo-yong has offered help with rescue and disaster relief to China. Xu says the Cabinet has also expressed condolences (哀悼) to the victims in the earthquake, which has killed 13 and injured 175. The number of casualties is expected to rise. ---- T*Power shortage The national power supply indicator flashed a red light again Tuesday - and Tai-Power says the red light could remain through Friday of this week because of increasing power demand due to the hot weather. Tai-Power says operating reserves dropped further Tuesday - to stand at 624,000-kilowatts. Electricity demand surged to a high of 36.26-giga-watts at 1:54PM when the mercury rose above 37-degrees in Taipei. The Ministry of Economic Affairs says three new power generators are expected to provide a combined 415,000-kilowatts from today to help ease (紓解) power supplies concerns. ---- T*Xinzhu's fatal car accident The Xinzhu District Prosecutors' Office says the driver of a flatbed truck (平板拖車) which ploughed into a police car (撞上警車) killing a highway patrolman on Monday had recently taken amphetamines. Forty-one year old Huang Zhi-long was released on bail of 100,000 N-T Tuesday and put under house arrest (遭到軟禁). Prosecutors say trace amounts of amphetamine were found in a urine test carried out on Huang shortly after the incident and the suspect (嫌犯) has admitted to using the drug five days ago. One highway patrol officer died and five other people were injured in the incident on the Xinzhu section of the No.3 Freeway. ---- China Earthquake In world news... The epi-center of the quake is 35 kilometers away from Jiu-zhai-gou and 290 kilometers from Cheng-du. The move initially stranded passengers (讓旅客受困), and resulted in a drop in fares for them. The International Civil Aviation Organization said Tuesday that they have been working with various countries in the Middle East to work out access to airspace for Qatar Airways.
