EZ10Untitled recording 01:42PM ---- EZ10Untitled recording 01:42PM ---- Section break ---- 10AM Easy EZ News Intro Good morning. It's 10 o'clock. I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex First local news... The Tai-Ex opened down by less by a point this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,470 on turnover of 2.4-billion N-T. The market took a beating (重挫) Wednesday - closing down 98-points - as market sentiment suffered on rising geopolitical tensions (緊繃的地緣政治情勢) between North Korea and the U-S. ---- T*TaiPower switch to orange indicator Tai-Power has revised its national power supply indicator light from red to orange after the island's power supply situation eased Wednesday. According to Tai-Power, maximum peak power usage (最大尖端用量) yesterday stood at 36.12-gigawatts at 2:13PM. That was 80,000-kilowatts less than the state-generator had forecast. Tai-Power says the lower than expected usage was due to softer-than-expected electricity demand (對電力需求比原先預期的低) and additional supplies being provided by a power generator at a coal-fired power plant in Gaoxiong's Da-Lin Township. The generator was connected to the national grid Wednesday - and supplied an additional 200,000-kilowatts- which in turn raised the maximum power supply capacity (最大供電量) to 37.12-gigawatts. ---- T*KMT's assets The K-M-T has submitted a financial statement to the Ill-gotten Party Assets Settlement Committee, showing assets of 430-million N-T in cash and 273 properties. The party also declared liabilities (潛在負債) of 7.8-billion N-T. K-M-T Administration and Management Committee Director Qiu Da-zhan says the financial statement was submitted in compliance with the committee's mandate (遵守不當黨產會的規定). Qiu says the K-M-T is also willing to declare all of its assets (申報所有資產) but the process is complicated because there is missing data, particularly for the period between 1945 and 1949. The committee is examining K-M-T assets obtained after August 15-th, 1945, when Japan handed over control of Taiwan to the Republic of China. ---- T*Indigenous radio President Tsai Ing-wen says the opening of Taiwan's first nationwide indigenous radio station (原民廣播電台) is part of her administration's promise to better protect the island's aboriginal peoples (原住民) and their culture. A-Lian 96.3 began broadcasting on Wednesday. The station's launch was timed to coincide with (與...同時) the United Nation's International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples. A-Lian 96.3 is operated by the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Foundation and features 15 types of programs on a wide range of topics, from music to gourmet cooking. It airs programming in all 16 of Taiwan's indigenous languages (以16種不同原民語言播出節目). ---- North Korea ... In international news .... North Korea is dismissing President Trump's threat of military action on the Peninsula as "a load of nonsense" - and says the U-S leader is "bereft of reason (喪失理智)." Simon Marks reports. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Kenya .. Kenya's election commission (選委會) is defending the country's electronic voting system as secure (電子投票系統是安全的), saying there were "no interferences before, during and after'' Tuesday's election. The statements Wednesday night came after opposition candidate Raila Odinga accused hackers of infiltrating the system and manipulating the vote in favor of President Uhuru Kenyatta (指控駭客滲透並操控該系統,讓投票結果有利於肯亞達總統.) Provisional results (暫時的結果) show Kenyatta holding a strong lead with 96-percent of polling stations counted. It is not yet clear when final results will be announced. ---- France ... Officials say French police are searching a building in a suburb west of Paris believed to be linked to the chief suspect in a car attack that injured six soldiers. Officials say information about the suspect's identity is being verified (正在查證嫌犯身分), and it's unclear whether the suspect lived in the building. Police shot and wounded the suspect on a highway just north of Paris after he fled the scene (逃離現場) of the attack on the soldiers. ---- WEATHER AM ..... Looking at the weather across Taiwan ... We can expect .... Fair skies in the north , And partly clear skies and occasional showers or thundershowers in the center and south. Current Temperatures .... Taipei -- 34 Taichung -- 32 Gaoxiong -- 34 ---- 10AM Easy EZ News Outro That's it for Easy EZ News today.
