The Tai-Ex opened up less than a point this morning from yesterday's close,

T*Nursing home fire kills 4
A fire at a Pingtung nursing home has left four people dead.
The fire started early in the morning, on the second floor of the three-story
building.
55 people are being treated at hospitals for smoke inhalation (吸入).

T*Shrimp chips found with expired ingredients
Officials say expired ingredients were used in Hsia Wei Hsien shrimp chips
They say Yu Zong Foods used fish powder that had been expired for almost 3
years.
The Food and Drug Administration raided the company's offoce in Gaoxiong to
take evidence (證據).
The company could be fined up to 200-million N-T.
All the products that could have problems are being taken off store shelves.

T*CTBC and Google to co-op on Android Pay
And ....
CTBC Bank will be the first Taiwan bank to have Android Pay digital wallet
services.
CTBC is working with Google on this, and the service could start next month.
The bank says Android Pay would be available at many places in Taiwan,
including department store food courts, hypermarts, and make-up and drug
stores.
The bank says more than 50-percent of Android phone users in Taiwan will
probably use Android Pay.

US immigration-related arrests surge
In international news from the U-S.....
Data shows that arrests over immigration (移民) this year are up by almost
40-percent.

Brazil Temer rejects resignation calls
Brazil's President says he will not step down from his job.
Michel Temer has been accused of supporting giving money to a former lawmaker
to keep him from talking about things embarrassing to the president.
That lawmaker is now in jail for corruption.
Brazil's highest court is investigating.
Temer says he hasn't done anything wrong.

Cuba Zika surge reported
Cuba says there has been a rise in the number of Zika cases.
Officials say there have been almost 1-thousand-850 cases of the illness for
2016 and the first months of 2017.
They say the provinces with the most cases Havana, Guantanamo and Cienfuegos.
