T*Taiex update

 

The Tai-Ex opened up nearly flat this morning from yesterday's close, at

10,037 on turnover of 1.8-billion N-T.

T*Taipower also hit by WannaCry ransomware

 

Tai-Power says 770 of its computers were hit by WannaCry ransomware last week.

 

The company says electricity supplies were not affected.

 

New cases of WannaCry ransomware (勒索軟體) attacks have been reported at 10

schools and a trading company.

 

The trading company paid a ransom of $1000 U-S dollars in Bitcoins, then

reported the attack to the police.

T*NDC: infrastructure plan to increase GDP

 

The National Development Council says the Forward-looking Infrastructure

Development Plan will increase GDP by 0.1 percentage points a year.

 

The NDC says during the plan's eight years, Taiwan's nominal G-D-P is

expected to increase by 1.1-trillion N-T and its real G-D-P by 975.9-billion

N-T.

 

The NDC also says the plan will create more than the 40,000 to 50,000 jobs

the government estimates (估計).

T*First Taiwanese-descent competitor in Miss USA

 

And .... 

 

The first woman of Taiwanese descent (血統) competed in the Miss USA pageant

Sunday.

 

But Julie Guo did not make the final five.

 

However, she failed to make the final five.

 

Guo was born in Tainan and emigrated to Hawaii with her family at the age of

10.

 

The 23-year-old won the Miss Hawaii title in November 2016.

US denies Trump Russia leaks

 

The White House says reports that President Donald Trump gave highly

classified (機密) information to Russians is not true.

UN condemns NKorean missile launch

 

The U-N Security Council is strongly against North Korea's latest missile

test.

 

The North claims (聲稱) the test was for a new type of "medium long-range"

rocket that can carry a heavy nuclear warhead.

 

The council demands that Pyongyang stop the tests, and says it will put

sanctions (制裁) on the North.

 

The Security Council also wants all countries to immediately start sanctions

on North Korea.

Britain 101 year old skydiver

 

and finally.....

 

A 101-year-old veteran has become the oldest person in the world to skydive.

 

Bryson William Verdun Hayes jumped from 4-thousand-500 meters with an

instructor and members of his family Sunday in southwestern England.

 

The jump raised money for a veterans' organization.

 

Hayes served (服役) in the British Army during World War II, and was awarded

France's Legion of Honor for his heroic actions.
