T*Taiex update

 

The Tai-Ex opened down 20-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 9982

on turnover of 1.5 -billion N-T.

T*Suspects questioned over selling personal info

 

Officials questioned 62 people about illegally selling personal information.

 

Investigators believe they are part of a group that made millions of dollars

selling that information to real estate agents and property development

companies.

 

Police confiscated (沒收) the suspects' computers, which had about

100-million pieces of personal information.

 

Each set of information was sold for between $150-thousand to 200-thousand NT.

T*Infrastructure bill still stalled in Legislature

 

Lawmakers are still stuck on the Forward Looking Infrastructure Development

Plan.

 

Legislators threw bags of flour, some blew whistles and banged drums to try

to stop the review meeting.

 

Only one paragraph (段) of the bill was read. Then the session had to be

stopped.

 

The infrastructure plan calls for the government to use $800-billion NT to

develop railways, renewable energy, and other projects over eight years.

 

The KMT wants the budget cut to $500-billion NT over four years.

T*Verdict coming in brutal girl muder

 

And .... 

 

The court will hand down its decision today for child killer Wang Jing-yu.

 

Wang killed a four-year-old girl on a street in Taipei's Neihu District in

March last year.

 

Prosecutors say he should get the death penalty (判死刑).

 

But defense lawyers say Wang has shown he is sorry for his crime and has

apologized to the girl's family.

Democrats demand answers from US Deputy AG

Democrats want to know if Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein knew about

the firing of James Comey.

Brazil State of Emergency over Zika Virus Over!

 

In South America...

 

Brazil says its Zika health emergency is over.

 

The virus carried by mosquitoes wasn't thought of as a threat (威脅) until

2015.

 

People realized the virus can cause major birth defects.

 

The Health Ministry says cases of Zika from January to mid-April are down by

95 percent percent compared with the same months last year.
