T*MND says ready to strike enemy home bases
The Ministry of National Defense says Taiwan is able to strike (攻擊) Chinese
army bases, if fighting starts.
Lt. Gen. Chiang Zhen-chong says the military is planning and practicing for
this type of attack.
The MND is also planning to buy new stealth fighter jets which can take off
and land quickly or vertically (垂直).
T*Cabinet on infrastructure plan
The Cabinet says the government's "forward-looking infrastructure (基礎設施)
development plan" will cost 1-trillion NT over eight years.
Cabinet spokesperson Hsu Guo-yong says the plan will create 40-to-50-thousand
The plan covers five categories: rail transport, water environment, green
energy, digital development, and urban-rural development.
The plan will be given to the legislature to review after it is passed by the
T*Nine Taiwan universities in top 100 list
Nine Taiwan universities are on Times Higher Education's 2017 list for the
top 100 schools in Asia.
National Taiwan University is the highest ranked (排行), at 24th place.
But the university fell 9 places from the year before, when it was 15th.
NTU says it's score was the same as last year, even though it's ranking
They say this means other schools are improving more quickly.
US no evidence of Obama wiretap
The U-S Senate Intelligence Committee says there is no evidence to back up
(證實) President Donald Trump's claim that he was wiretapped by the former

France IMF letter bomb
French prosecutors are investigating if a Greek anarchist (無政府主義者)
group sent a letter that exploded at the Paris office of the International
One person was lightly hurt.
A Greek anarchist group said they sent a letter bomb to the German Finance
Ministry the day before.
Paris police also found bits of "Greek stamps" on the Paris letter bomb.
Brazil yellow fever outbreak
Brazil officials say 424 people have been infected with yellow fever recently.
Out of those, 137 have died.
Officials are also checking 900 other cases.
Most of the confirmed (確認的) cases have been in the southeastern state of
