T*KMT calls Ma indictment political persecution

The KMT says the government using political persecution against former
President Ma Ying-jeou.

Ma was indicted on charges of giving out information about an ongoing
(正在進行的) investigation in August and September of 2013.

Ma says he is confident he will be found innocent.

T*Premier warns against workweek noncompliance

Premier Lin Chuan says local governments must follow the five-day workweek
laws.

Lin says the Control Yuan and the Cabinet will step-in if governments do not
follow the changed Labor Standards Act.

Nantou County Commissioner Lin Ming-qin wants his office to look into whether
it would be legal not to enforce (執行) the new laws.

The laws say the workweek is five days with one fixed day off and one
flexible rest day.

Other local governments also do not want to follow the new labor laws.

They say the changes are affecting local tourism and high-tech companies.

T*Taiwan Media Watch questions anti-espionage draft bill

And .... 

Taiwan Media Watch says an anti-espionage (反間諜) draft bill goes against
the Constitution and hurts Taiwan's democracy.

The Justice Ministry wants to pass the draft bill, which talks about "fake
news".

The drafts have not been made public.

Taiwan Media Watch says teaching people more about how to understand media,
and making media more professional would be better ways to fight "fake news".

Yemen peace talks at standstill

The UN envoy for Yemen says groups in the country are moving away from peace
talks.

Colombia Santos corruption

President Juan Manuel Santos said sorry to Colombians Tuesday.

His former campaign (競選) manager admitted that a Brazilian construction
company illegally paid $400-thousand U-S dollars to print 2 million campaign
posters for Santos in 2010.

Santos was running for president at the time.

But the campaign manager says the president did not know about the payment.

Indonesia coral destruction

Indonesia's government says it will take action, after a cruise ship
destroyed coral reefs (珊瑚礁) in Indonesian waters.

The 4-thousand-200-ton cruise ship hit the coral reefs in the waters of Radja
Ampat in West Papua province on March 4-th.

The government says the ship destroyed about 1-thousand-600 square meters of
coral.

The government has set up a group to handle civil and criminal damages
(損害賠償).
