The Taiex opened down 4.8 points this morning from yesterday's close, at
9,654 on turnover of $1 billion NT.

T*Security bureau keeping track of 8 suspected of Islamic State links

The National Security Bureau says it is watching 8 ROC citizens they think
might be linked with the Islamic State.

Authorities deported (驅逐出境) an Indonesia woman in late February.

They believed she might also have something to do with the Islamic State.

The NSB says the woman overstayed her visa.

The NSB says so far, no one on the international terror watch list has come
to Taiwan.

T*Three new bird flu outbreaks confirmed

The Council of Agriculture says there has been three more outbreaks of avian
flu at poultry farms.

Those were outbreaks of the H5N2 and H5N8 strains (亞型、病毒種類).

Since the start of this year, bird flu outbreaks have hit 84 poultry farms in
Taiwan.

Eleven of those were the H5N6 strain, which can be passed to humans.

Over 650-thousand birds have been destroyed so far.

EU Tusk reelected president

Donald Tusk has been re-appointed (重新任命) as the president of the European
Council.

Switzerland shooting at cafe

Police in Switzerland say gunmen opened fire (開槍) inside a cafe in the city
of Basel, killing two people, and seriously injuring one.

The two men entered Cafe 56, at 8:15p.m. yesterday local time.

After they fired, they escaped in the direction of a railway station nearby.

A police officer says the shooting has nothing to do with terrorism.

Russia pushes for better ties with Germany

and ...

Russian President Vladimir Putin says he would like to improve ties with
Germany.

Putin said this to the German Foreign Minister, who was visiting Russia on
Thursday.

Putin also invited Chancellor Angela Merkel to visit Moscow.
 
A German diplomat says Putin and Gabriel talked about issues between Russia
and Germany, and the fighting in eastern Ukraine.
