Most of the swearing-in ceremonies (儀式) saw cloudy skies, but the sun was shining in Kaohsiung. About 30-thousand people went to the Kaohsiung ceremony near the Love River. Kaohsiung mayor Han Guo-yu arrived at the ceremony by boat. ---- E*Transport Officials Confirm No Freeway Bus Fare Hikes Acting Transport Minister Wang Guo-tsai says ticket prices for freeway buses will not go up until after the Lunar New Year holiday. Wang says bus companies have agreed they will hike (提高) prices 5 to 40NT after the holiday. They say prices need to go up because the cost of fuel and running their companies has also gone up. ---- E*US Gov Shutdown A partial (局部) US government shutdown is now in its third day. A Turkish official says US President Donald Trump has accepted (接受) an invitation to visit the country. Turkey's presidential spokesperson says President Recept Tayyip Erdogan invited Trump to visit during a weekend phone call. The Turkish official says Trump will probably visit some time in 2019. ---- E*Australia Apartment Evacuation Some people have returned to their homes in a Sydney apartment building that was evacuated (撤離). Residents say they heard cracking in the 36-story Opal Tower near Olympic Park. Engineers found cracks in the walls on the 10th floor, and 51 apartments were declared unsafe.
