Section break ---- C*News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- E*EZ NEWS NOVEMBER 8, 2018 ---- E*ASC to be expanded to investigate rail, road, marine accidents The Aviation Safety Council will soon be responsible for looking into railway, road and marine accidents. Starting in 2019, the ASC will be expanded from 23 staff to 100. They will take over the investigation of marine accidents and fatal railway and road accidents. The move comes after Premier William Lai ordered (責令、指令) changes after a deadly train crash last month that left 18 people dead and 200 injured. ---- E*Taiwanese teen wins best young actor award at Minsk film festival Taiwan's Chung Chia-chun has won the Award for Best Young Actor at the Minsk International Film Festival in Belarus. The 14-year-old star of the movie "Long Time No Sea", is the youngest actor to win that award at the festival. The movie directed by Heather Tsui was filmed on Orchid Island, home to the Tao aboriginal tribe, of which Chung is a member. Chung has also been nominated (提名) for the best new performer award at the 2018 Golden Horse Film Festival. (NS) ---- E*US Election Count Ongoing Two US Senate races remain up in the air following the midterm elections. In Florida, the battle between incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson and Republican Rick Scott looks set to go to a recount. And In Arizona, the outcome (結果) could come down to more than a million outstanding early voting ballots that are yet to be counted. Steve Mort reports from Orlando. < [CLIP] Slug: > < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- E*Vietnam US Cleanup Agent Orange Vietnam and the United States have finished the cleanup of a toxic chemical at Danang Airport. The herbicide Agent Orange was stored there during the Vietnam War. US forces sprayed the chemical to kill plants in the country side, leaving communist fighters with less places to hide. The 30 hectares of cleansed (清洗) land were handed over to Vietnam at a ceremony Wednesday. ---- E*Colombia Endangered Poisonous Frogs at Airport Colombian police have found 216 poisonous frogs in an airport bathroom in the capital. The frogs were hidden in small film containers in bag of clothes. They included endangered species (瀕危物種) that could fetch up to $2000- US dollars each on the illegal wildlife market.
