Section break ---- C*News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- E*EZ NEWS NOVEMBER 7, 2018 ---- E*Fishermen Protest Tougher Fines for Violating Fisheries Laws Fishermen are protesting the government's move to raise fines for breaking fisheries(漁業) laws. Fisheries groups say the new fines are too high and they want the government to look over the changes again. The changes to the laws started in January of last year. The government is trying to get Taiwan off the European Union's "yellow card" list for not doing enough to stop illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. Maximum fines for illegal fishing were raised to 30-million N-T, with penalties for repeat offenders increased to 45-million. ---- E*Two Flu Deaths Reported So Far this Season Officials have reported two flu-related deaths this flu season. The Centers for Disease Control say an eight-year-old girl and a 65-year-old woman both died within days of showing symptoms of H1N1 flu infection. Neither had been vaccinated against the virus. The CDC says a total of 54,206 people went to the emergency room last week with flu-like symptoms (症狀). ---- E*US Dems Flip 2 GOP House Seats In international news, from the US midterm elections.... Polls closed in the East, with Democrats taking two House seats that were held by Republicans. The seats were from Florida and Washington. Meanwhile... Reports say there were problems with voting machines, long lines, and misinformation (誤傳). ---- C*Facebook Myanmar Facebook admits (承認) that it was used to start violence in Myanmar.
