T*Taiex update

The Tai-Ex opened up 24-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 9,690
on turnover of 1.7-billion N-T.

T*COA on high alert for H5N6

The Council of Agriculture is watching closely after many farms reported H5N6
avian flu infections.

The COA minister has ordered a full quarantine.

A turkey farm in Tainan was confirmed to have the H5N6 bird flu strain
Saturday.

The H-5-N-6 avian influenza virus is highly pathogenic (致病性).

T*Han Kuang live-fire drills cut

There will be no live-fire part of the Han Kuang military exercise this year.

The Ministry of National Defense says this year's drill will be done on
computers.

Officials say President Tsai Ing-wen wants Taiwan to have a new military
strategy (戰略).

The live-fire drill will happen in 2018.

T*Five arrested for fake earthquake photo

And .... 

Five people were arrested in Tainan after sharing a photograph that they
claimed (聲稱) was from Saturday's magnitude 5.6 earthquake.

A 19-year-old machine tool worker was arrested in Yan-Shui District early
Sunday.

He claimed it was a building collapse on Jin-Hua Road Saturday, when the
photo actually showed a building that collapsed in 2016.

He said he sent the photo to friends for fun.

NKorea calls missile test success

North Korea says it successfully fired a missile (飛彈) over the weekend.

U.S. correspondent William Denselow reports.

Brazil state patrols return

In Brazil....

More than 1000 military police started patrolling in Espirito Santo yesterday.

They stopped patrolling last week during a protest.

The protesters want higher pay for the police.

More than 130 homicides (殺人案件) happened while the police were off the
streets.

Japan's economy expands

and finally....

Japan's economy grew 0.2 percent during the last quarter of 2016.

It was the slowest rate of expansion of the year.

Officials say slower growth in China affected Japan's economy.
