Section break ---- C*News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- E*EZ NEWS OCTOBER 25, 2018 ---- E*Compensation for Substandard Fuel Could Cost CPC NT$2.7billion CPC Chairman Dai Qian says the company could end up paying $2.7-billion NT for selling substandard (低於標準) 95-octane unleaded gasoline. The company admitted earlier this week that gasoline sold from 3 pumps in northern Taiwan failed quality tests. They say up to 41,000-kiloliters of the substandard gasoline worth 1.2-billion N-T was sold. Most of the gasoline was sold at stations in New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli. ---- E*Environmentalists to Rally Against Carbon Emissions Environmental groups will gather in Taipei next month to make people more aware of the effects of carbon emissions (排放) on the environment. The Action Coalition for Healthy Air in Taiwan says the protesters will meet on Ketagalan Boulevard and march past the Legislature and DPP headquarters. They want the government to rely less on coal-fired power plants. The group believes that is the best way to improve air quality. ---- E*Saudi Price Calls for Jounalist Murder Justice Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is now speaking about the killing of jouranlist Jamal Khashoggi. US Correspondent Rachel Silverman has more. < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- E*Russia Warning on US Missile Policy Russia's president says moving US intermediate-range missiles in Europe would force Russia to target the countries that are accepting the missiles. Over the weekend, US President Donald Trump announced that he will take the US out of a nuclear arms control agreement. Both sides accuse each other of not following the rules of the agreement. Putin says he hopes to talk about the issue with Trump in Paris on Nov. 11th. ---- E*German Gov Dials Up Pressure on Automakers The German government wants carmakers to fix diesel cars with high levels of emissions. The government passed a series of steps to cut down on emission levels in the country.
