T*Taiex update

The Tai-Ex opened down 13-points this morning from yesterday's close, at
9,540 on turnover of 1.4-billion N-T.

T*Air Force signs aircraft deal

The Air Force and the Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology signed
an agreement to build aircraft.

The first prototype (樣機) of the advanced training aircraft will be finished
in 2019, and test flights will start a year later.

All 66 XT-5 "Blue Magpie" trainers will be delivered by 2026.

The government will spend about $68.6-billion NT on the project.

T*Taoyuan Airport MRT runs smoothly

Officials say the Taoyuan International Airport MRT line has been running
smoothly.

The line started a trial run (試運) last Thursday.

Engineers say the MRT line has carried 34-thousand passengers during the
first five days of the trial run.

But authorities say there's still some small problems which will be fixed
before the official opening on March 2nd.

There's also reports that the line is noisy when it passes through one
neighborhood.

T*Taiwan plans for US entry program continue

And .... 

The government says it still plans to join the United States Global Entry
program, and this plan will not be affected by U-S President Donald Trump's
immigration ban (禁止).

The program allows pre-approved, low-risk people to get into the U-S faster.

So far, 4.1 million people from seven countries have used the program.

US Attorney General vote

The U-S Senate is getting ready for a vote on whether Jeff Sessions can be
the next U-S Attorney General.

France Louvre attacker condition worsens

French officials say the man suspected of attacking soldiers at the Louvre
museum is not doing well.

The man has been in a hospital in Paris.

He was shot four times by soldiers after slightly injuring one of them.

Prosecutors say they will ask judges to file terrorist charges against the
Egyptian man if his health gets better.

Australia highest paid public servant

and finally....

Australia's mail chief is the country's highest paid public servant.

The managing director fo the national mail service made $5.6 million
Australian dollars last year.

That is more than 10 times the prime minister's salary of $507-thousand.
 
For comparison (比較), the mail chief in the U-S made about $286-thousand
Australian dollars last year.
