Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up less a point this this morning from yesterday's close, at 11,024 on turnover of 1.9-billion N-T. ---- T*TSMC says virus internal mistake The CEO of Taiwan Seminconductor Manufacturing says the virus that hit the company last Friday was a "mistake by TSMC itself". C.C. Wei says a new tool was not checked for viruses before it was connected to the company's computer network. TSMC estimates (估計、預計) that the problem will cause the company to lose less than 2-percent of its revenue for the third quarter this year. ---- T*KMT lawmakers against gov airline changes KMT lawmakers say the government should not make any "rash"(草率、魯莽) decisions about changes for international airlines. 44 foreign airlines have changed Taiwan's official name on their websites. K-M-T legislative caucus secretary-general Ceng Ming-zong says the Tsai administration should work on restarting negotiations with Beijing. Reports say the government is thinking about changing the time slots for those airlines, and not letting them use jet bridges. ---- T*Sleep deprivation sustained gaming epilepsy And .... A neurologist is warning of the dangers of playing video games without taking time to sleep. Yeh Zong-xun is the head of the neurology department at Yuan Sheng Hospital, says he treated a junior high school student who showed symptoms of an epileptic seizure (癲癇). Yeh says the lack of sleep led to the onset of idiopathic epilepsy, which resulted in seizures with no obvious cause. ---- US Trump Manafort trial An important witness in the fraud trial of US President Donald Trump's former campaign chief Paul Manafort, says he committed financial crimes alongside Mr Manafort. Our Washington correspondent John Clarke has more: < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- UN NKorea humanitarian aid The U.N. Security Council has set new guidelines to speed up delivery of humanitarian aid to North Korea. The guidelines will now be sent to all 193 U.N. member states. U.N. sanctions imposed on North Korea for its nuclear and ballistic missile programs allow humanitarian aid, but delays the delivery. The U.N. says around 10 million people need food and other assistance and about 20 percent of children are stunted because of malnutrition. ---- France Robuchon obit Michelin-starred French master chef Joel Robuchon has died at the age of 73. French media reported he died of cancer in Geneva. Robuchon was named among the best craftsmen (手工業工人) in France in 1976, and crowned cook of the century in 1990.
