Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened down 15-points this morning from Friday's close, at 10,997 on turnover of 1.5-billion N-T. ---- T*MAC on Kinmen China links The MAC says Kinmen's moves for more ties with China must be measured carefully. The Mainland Affairs Council said this after Kinmen Magistrate Chen Fu-hai talked about a possible electricity link and bridge linking Kinmen with China's Fujian Province. And a water link between the two opened this weekend. The MAC says Kinmen's local government must still follow central government policies (政策). ---- T*ROC flag at 2018 Gay Games The Republic of China flag was on display at the opening of the 2018 Gay Games in Paris this weekend. The Taiwanese athletes entered the venue (會場) at Stade Jean Bouin waving the R-O-C flag and a banner reading "The 1st Asian country to legalize equal marriage." The flag was also waved by some members of the French team and by a team from San Francisco. ---- T*Philippines rep office new app in Taiwan And .... The Philippines representative office in Taiwan has a new app and service. "MECO Ph," is available in Google Play and Apple Store and is a mini version of the updated website of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office. The office launched the MECOnnect program in May, which helps with closer ties and instant communication with overseas (海外) Filipino workers. ---- Indonesia quake Thousands of homes were damaged by a powerful earthquake Sunday on the Indonesian tourist island of Lombok. Officials say 82 are dead and hundredsd hurt. The magnitude 7.0 earthquake early Sunday evening struck in the northern part of Lombok and was also felt on Bali. Australia's home affairs minister was staying at a hotel on the island for a conference, and has been safely evacuated. Experts say the quake could trigger (觸發) a tsunami. ---- Afghanistan suicide bomber A Taliban suicide bomber killed three NATO forces on a foot patrol in eastern Afghanistan.
