Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 17-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,737 on turnover of 2-billion N-T. ---- T*Maria 10AM Extremely heavy rain alerts are in affect for New Taipei as well as parts Ilan, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli and Taichung. Typhoon Maria is still moving towards the north of the island. Land and sea warnings are now in affect. The land warning covers Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Nantou, Ilan and Hualien. Right now, the storm is about 530-kilometers east of Ilan. It is moving in a west-northwesterly direction at speeds averaging (平均) 28-kilometers an hour. Officials say if the storm continues on its current path, Maria will pass the north of the island fom this evening and overnight. The eye of othe storm will not make landfall. The High Speed Rail says its services will not be affected today. Some international flights are affected. Maria has a radius of 280-kilometers. It has maximum sustained winds of 191-kilometers an hour, with gusts of up to 234--kilometers an hour. ---- UK Foreign Secretary resigns Britain's Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has resigned (辭職). UK correspondent Olly Barratt has the details < [CLIP] Slug: > ---- Japan heavy rain Rescuers are still looking for dozens of missing people, after flooding and mudslides in southwestern Japan. Officials say 80 people are still missing, many in Hiroshima. 122 people have been confirmed dead as of early today. Several days of heavy rain set off (引起) flooding and landslides in western Japan, including the Hiroshima, Okayama and Ehime prefectures. Thousands of people have evacuated their homes. ---- Russia space resupply A Russian space vehicle loaded with food, fuel and other supplies has blasted off (發射) for the International Space Station. It carries nearly three tons of supplies for the station's crew. The ship is expected to dock at the space outpost in less than four hours after the launch.
