Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened down 9-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 11,140 on turnover of 3.3-billion N-T. ---- T*AIT dedication in Taipei The ceremony to open the new American Institute in Taiwan is taking place in Taipei's Neihu District. Media was taken on a tour of the 6.5- hectare, 255-million U-S dollar complex earlier this morning. A group of US officials led by assistant secretary of educational and cultural Affairs in the U-S Department of State, Marie Royce is here for the ceremony. A-I-T Chairman James Moriarty says he's not disappointed that no Cabinet level Trump administration officials traveled to Taiwan to attend (出席) the event. President Tsai Ing-wen, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je, Premier William Lai and former president Ma Ying-jeou are also at the ceremony. ---- T*Airport auto clearance system delays Passengers were delayed going through immigration due to a system update for the automatic clearance system at the Taoyuan International Airport. The National Immigration Agency says the system has now been mostly fixed. They say more staff are helping passengers clear immigration to catch their flights on time, but there could still be some delays. ---- T*180 detained in telecom fraud crackdown And .... Taipei police say 180 suspects are being held for telecom fraud. Police say the suspects were part of 89 different cases. These suspects include gang leaders, money mules, and people who gave dummy (假、傀儡) bank and telephone accounts. ---- Trump Kim summit US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are meeting in Singapore. Trump said they would have a "great discussion". Kim says they had overcome "obstacles" to have this meeting. The leaders shook hands at a Singapore hotel. Trump and Kim planned to meet one on one for most of an hour, with just their translators. Then officials from both sides will join them for more discussions and a working lunch. Trump has already announced that he will leave early. ---- UN Syria funding The United Nations warns that 2.5 million civilians (老百姓) in Syria's Idlib Province have "no place to go".
