Section break ---- News Intro I'm ... w/ the top of the hour news ..... ---- T*Taiex update The Tai-Ex opened up 28-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 10,731 on turnover of 2.5-billion N-T. ---- T*Ko supports Tsai for President Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je says he will support President Tsai Ing-wen if she decides to run for (參選) president in 2020. The mayor says he won't run himself, and he's never had any plans to run. The DPP has not said yet if it will support Ko in the Taipei mayoral election in November or choose its own candidate. ---- T*NCC fines media companies The National Communications Commission has fined both Taiwan Broadband Communications and Formosa TV. T-B-C has been fined 660,000 N-T, while F-T-V is being fined 200,000 N-T. T-B-C has taken F-T-V's news channel off air. F-T-V says the move was politically motivated (有政治意圖). But T-B-C denies that and says F-T-V did not authoritize (授權) it to broadcast the Formosa News channel. The N-C-C says both sides should reach an agreement as soon as possible. ---- T*Taipei Hsinchu listed best for intl students And .... Two Taiwan cities are on the top-100 list for best cities for international students. Taipei is 20th and Hsinchu was 73rd on the Q-S Best Student Cities Rankings (排名) survey. Last year, Taipei was 21st and Hsinchu was 75th. They were the only two cities in Taiwan to make the list. The UK education network creates its rankings based on university rankings, student mix, employer activity, desirability, affordability, and student views. ---- Trump NKorea freed Americans US President Donald Trump's ready to welcome back three Americans who were held captive in North Korea. Firefighters found more human remains in a downtown building that caught fire and collapsed in Sao Paulo last week. Squatters had lived in the abandoned building. Officials say they are still trying to identify the remains. Six people are still missing, as the search continues. ---- Spain Catalonia Spain's Constitutional Court blocked plans to re-elect Catalan's former president. The court agreed to review the Spanish government's challenge (挑戰、盤問) of a legal change that could allow Carles Puigdemont to be elected. By agreeing to look at the case, the court is ending Puigdemont's changes of being reelected.
