I'm ______ and it's time for Easy EZ News on ICRT. ---- T*Taiex The Tai-Ex opened up 20-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 11,022 on turnover of 2.2-billion N-T. The market closed above the 11,000-point mark on Monday following a rally on Wall Street last week and the bellwether electronics sector led the upturn (電子股領軍上漲), while buying in the financial sector also saw a boost on the back of improved profitability (獲利改善). ---- T*Judge involved in sexual harrassment Lawmakers are questioning a High Court decision to fine a judge who was convicted of sexual harassment (性騷擾定罪). Former Taipei High Administrative Court judge Chen Hong-bin had been found guilty of sexually harassing his assistant by the Court of the Judiciary in 2016 and it ruled he should be dismissed. However, Chen appealed that ruling to the High Court, which overturned it (推翻原判決) and decided to fine Chen around 2-million N-T. According to the court, it opted to allow Chen to remain in office because only three of the eight allegations of misconduct legally constituted "harassment" (八項不當行為中只有三項符合法律定義的性騷擾) and Chen also took responsibility for his actions. D-P-P lawmaker Chou Chun-mi says the appeal hearing was flawed and it's ruling should not be allowed to stand (不應成立) because it failed to take into account Chen's abuse of power (濫權). ---- T*NDC on 31 incentives National Development Council Minister Chen Mei-ling says the government doesn't believe that the 31 incentives announced by Beijing to attract Taiwanese businesses and professionals will have much of an effect on Taiwan. The incentives were announced by China late last month and include tax cuts, investment capital and relaxed restrictions on certification (證照) for 134 professions. The Cabinet was slated to meet Monday to discuss the government's response to Beijing's move, but that meeting was canceled due to officials reportedly needing more time to fully review all the incentives. ---- Nepal .. The plane was operated by Bangladeshi airline US-Bangla. The airline is blaming air traffic control, but the airport says the plane approached (進場) from the wrong direction. The exact cause of the crash is now under investigation. ---- US .. U-S President Donald Trump appears to be moving away from his earlier demands for sweeping gun law reforms (廣泛的槍枝法改革). Hannover prosecutors say Oskar Groening died aged 96. Groening was convicted in 2015 as an accessory to the murder (協助謀害) of 300,000 Jews. The court concluded that although there was no evidence of involvement in a specific killing, Groening knew that Jews were being slaughtered (屠殺) at the German death camp and supported the killings through his actions. ---- UK .. Britain's Prince Harry's bride-to-be has made her first public appearance with Queen Elizabeth II. Meghan Markle joined the queen and other senior royals at the Commonwealth Day service at London's Westminster Abbey. It marked another milestone in Markle's path to joining the British monarch's family. The American actress is set to marry Harry on the grounds of Windsor Castle on May 19-th. ---- WEATHER AM .....
